Too many passwords to remember? What if a smart card or USB key and
one password provided automated access to all your applications and
resources?
Today, there are simply too many passwords for users to
remember.
Users either try to use the same password for all applications or
they write them down, often on sticky yellow notes in plain view.
Also, each application and resource type has its own specific
password definition rules. Users get lost and call the help desk
repeatedly to gain access. This not only increases security risks
and help desk costs, but also substantially reduces overall
productivity.
By storing all those hard to remember user names and passwords on a
smart card or USB key, CryptoGram SSO (Single Sign-On) allows
enterprise network users to seamlessly access all authorized
network resources with a single PIN code. CryptoGram SSO increases
the productivity of network users, reduces the total cost of
ownership, and improves network security.
CryptoGram SSO is secure
Complex, secure authentication credentials are stored on a smart
card or USB key that is protected by a secret code. This offers
maximum protection in case of loss or theft. Enter the wrong PIN
code 3 times and the smart card or USB key is blocked.
CryptoGram SSO is simple
Users no longer have to struggle with dozens of hard to remember
pass-words.
Simply insert the smart card or USB key, enter its secret code and
CryptoGram SSO will automatically enter the correct authentication
information for each application that asks for a user name and
password.
CryptoGram SSO is versatile
CryptoGram SSO can be used with all applications and resources
that require authentication: Windows logon screens, HTML pages,
terminal emulators and other character based applications, Lotus
Notes, SAP, ...
CryptoGram SSO is even compatible with applications hosted by Citrix MetaFrame.
CryptoGram SSO vs traditional Single Sign-On Systems
CryptoGram SSO is a desktop Single Sign-On solution that does
not require complex backend integration or custom server agents to
function with your existing windows, web, and mainframe based
network resources. CryptoGram SSO’s small footprint enables
you to deploy Single-Sign-On throughout your organization in days,
not months.
Whether you have 1 or 10.000 PC’s, CryptoGram SSO’s
flexible licensing structure will support your existing
infrastructure, security requirements and budget.
CryptoGram SSO Architecture
CryptoGram SSO consists of two parts: the SSO Configuration
Editor and the SSO Engine.
- The SSO Configuration Editor allows for easy and centralized
management of all network resources and their associated windows or
screens that ask for authentication.
- The SSO Engine resides on each user’s workstation and
automatically provides network resources with the appropriate logon
information stored on the user’s smart card or USB key. If a
logon screen is recognized but no logon information is available on
the smart card or USB key, the user will be asked to enter the
necessary information.
CryptoGram SSO Security
Secure storage of logon credentials on a smart card or USB key
provides maximum protection against pass-word theft. Since the
smart card or USB key is protected by a secret code of 4 to 8
letters, numbers or special characters, it is impossible to gain
access within 3 tries. Remember: 3 erroneous tries will block the
smart card or USB key from further usage.
CryptoGram SSO allows you to enforce complex and secure passwords
without compromising ease of use. While your network resources will
see highly secure text-based passwords, network users will only
have to insert their smart card or USB key and enter their PIN
code.
